I am a Retired Software Systems Analyst, Software Engineer with Senior and Principal level experience on embedded real-time and other development projects within the Syracuse NY area and other locations in NY, MA and RI

I have extensive experience in the analysis, design, documentation, implementation, testing and troubleshooting of complex systems, including real-time embedded firmware, embedded real-time data collection and analysis systems, micro, mini and main frame computer systems applications, typically using C/C++ and assembly language, ADA or FORTRAN. I can provide the complete lifecycle support of software development to your project and teams, with exceptional skills such as:

Rapid analysis and understanding of requirements leading to system level and detailed design documentation. I have joined projects late in the design stage to solve “show stopper” complex design and implementation problems, often leading to a much simpler solution.

Resolved complex system problems using debuggers, in-circuit emulators (ICE), logic analyzers and protocol analyzers. Team debugging and troubleshooting leader. Found problems on several projects that had plagued other engineers for over a year.

Development of projects from start to finish, including learning a new RTOS, high-level and assembly languages, debugger, and application requirements.
Development of time and cost saving utilities for team and company use, such as:

○ Embedded system development download to in‑circuit‑emulator speed improvements replacing serial RS232 downloads, including

○ 90 minutes plus serial to under 10 minutes using magnetic tape, and,

○ over 2 minutes serial to under 20 seconds using Ethernet.

○ DOD specified software documentation listings utility to replace labor-intensive cut & paste. Saved over 2000 hours tech pub labor in first two months, time that was not available and would have resulted in late delivery, allowing them to concentrate on other tasks!

○ Updated install utility that queried existing system information for previous install answers to avoid customer entry of incorrect answers.

○ Automated utilities for backups, data verification, and other repetitive procedures.
